What do you love about this job and helping small businesses with hiring?

I love being able to see the direct impact of the work that we are doing to help small businesses with their hiring. For small businesses, a great hire is so crucial to their ability to be able to grow, thrive, and be successful, so the reward of being able to help a small business owner find a great hire is so fulfilling!   Beyond just helping small businesses find a great hire, I also love being able to empower small businesses with tools and knowledge that can help them to build their own capacity to be successful at hiring.  Ultimately, my end goal is to be able to both make the hiring process easier by managing the parts of it that can be burdensome for clients, while also providing them with sustainable resources that they can use if they choose to manage their own hiring processes in the future.

What makes it most rewarding?
What makes this job the most rewarding is when clients share personal testimonies and stories about the great hires that we’ve helped them with. My greatest satisfaction doesn’t come with “just a hire”. It comes from those conversations that I’ve had with clients several months down the road when they’ve shared with me how much value their great hires have brought to their business. To me, that is a job well done and what I strive for in this work.

What do you do for fun/when you’re not working?
I love spending as much time as I can outside with my fiancée and 3 dogs. I also love riding my bike and going to festivals and farmers markets. While I don’t live in New Orleans anymore, I also love everything New Orleans (especially the music, gumbo, and Jazz Fest)!

What’s a little known/interesting fact about you?
I was born in Paris, France and lived there until I was three. My first memory is from the day that we moved to the States, so unfortunately, great memories of my life as a Parisien are now lost on me!

If you could have any super power what would it be?
If I could have any super power, it would be to fly. The world from above when you’re flying in a plane is already pretty amazing as it is and to be able to fly like a bird seems like something that would be pretty unbelievable.

 

     MANDY, Hiring Specialist


What do you love about this job and helping small businesses with hiring?

This job is like being a business matchmaker – we work with some exciting companies and we get to find talented people for them that are a great “match”.  I also enjoy being able to help businesses in so many diverse areas – we get to work with some fantastic non-profits, innovative start ups, and many different small but quickly growing companies!

What makes it most rewarding?
Hiring can be stressful and taxing on a business owner’s time, but it is a critical function to be able to grow. I love that we can use our expertise to make this process easy for them, and I love when they say the hardest part of the process was choosing between the great candidates they interviewed! l’ve also been able to work with some clients as they’ve grown and I’ve filled multiple roles in their organization, it is very rewarding to be part of that growth process.

What do you do for fun/when you’re not working?
Outside of Hire With Ease, I am a mom to two wonderful boys who keep me busy! When our weekends aren’t filled with kid’s activities, we enjoy going up to the mountains or hanging out with friends and family.

What’s your greatest weakness?  I have several weaknesses, including wine, chocolate, and puppies. Wine and chocolate are usually accessible, and when I need a puppy fix I foster a puppy from a local rescue, which lets me enjoy one for a few weeks until it finds a good home, thus preventing me from becoming a crazy dog lady. 

If you could have any super power what would it be?
Telepathy would be very useful in this job – imagine being able to understand exactly what a candidate means when they say certain things (just kidding – we have ways to do this without mind reading!).  From a practical standpoint, if I could only pick one superpower I’d choose not needing to sleep.  Imagine what you could do with an extra 6-8 hours a day!

What do you love about this job and helping small businesses with hiring?
I love connecting great small businesses with rock star employees. I also love the connections that I get to make with our clients, learning about their amazing small businesses.

What makes it most rewarding?
The calls/emails from the chosen candidates. They are always so thankful and appreciative of Hire With Ease. In a small way, I feel like we are changing people’s lives.

What do you do for fun/when you’re not working? Adventuring around Colorado with my husband, two daughters and our two dogs. 

What’s a little known/interesting fact about you? I grew up near Chicago and landed in Colorado by playing collegiate volleyball at the University of Northern Colorado. I have been here ever since!

What’s your greatest weakness? French fries, adoptable animals and margaritas!

What do you love about this job and helping small businesses with hiring?

Small businesses have a different culture that you often don’t find in a corporate environment. Being able to match the right candidate with the company is a highly rewarding experience. Each job presents it’s own challenges because each company is unique. 

What makes it most rewarding?                                                                                                                                                                                                                                            The satisfaction you get when you just know this is a great candidate and they would be a great fit. It’s a sense of elation. 

What do you do for fun/when you’re not working?
I was born and raised in Colorado so I am most at home in the mountains. I am a huge fan of travel. I firmly believe travel is one of the best ways to achieve personal growth. When we’re at home I tend to read a lot and often try my hand at crafts but most of my free time is spent with my family and dogs. 

What’s a little known/interesting fact about you?
I have seven pets and I foster. Seriously. I can’t even go near an animal shelter. If I won the lottery I would open my own rescue. 

What’s your greatest weakness?
Food! I am such a foodie.

If you could have any super power what would it be?
Either teleportation or knowing the future (but the kind I can control like knowing the winning lottery numbers not the kind you can’t control and makes you go crazy) :) Ooooh…..or the ability to speak and understand any language.

I love finding really good matches, it is awesome to be able to match great people with great companies.

What makes it most rewarding?
One of the most rewarding parts of this job is when we are able to help a business find candidates that are better than they even hoped for.

What do you do for fun/when you’re not working?
My favorite thing to do outside of work is to be creating art, including paintings, jewelry and sculptures. 

What’s a little known/interesting fact about you?
A little known fact about me is that I once hiked across Spain for over 30 days. 

What’s your greatest weakness?
Puppies.  And art supplies.

If you could have any super power what would it be?
I would love to be able to time travel, I find history fascinating.

Tammi DeVille Merrell is the CEO and Founder of Hire With Ease. She has been working with and for entrepreneurs for over 20 years and understands the unique challenges of hiring for an entrepreneurial environment. She has interviewed thousands of candidates for roles ranging from entry-level admins, oilfield workers and plumbers to controllers, sales managers and software trainers.

Tammi created Hire With Ease when she was doing contract work for entrepreneurs. She was referred to a business owner who didn’t need all of the other project management skills she brought to the table, he just needed help with one of her specialties – hiring.   In that moment, it became apparent that the existing models of staffing agencies and full-service recruiting firms wouldn’t serve this client’s needs within a budget he could afford. It was then that she decided to create a unique flat fee pricing model for her hiring support services.  

That was over 8 years ago. Since then Hire With Ease and our offerings have evolved and our team has grown. We are happy to be filling the needs of a niche market, providing affordable hiring support where none was available before. It is our privilege and pleasure to help small business owners build their businesses and fulfill their dreams, by making hiring easier!
